About Us

History

Developed in 1983, Greensbrook Sec 1 R/P is a diverse and vibrant community comprised of over 400 single-family homes. Located in unincorporated NE Harris County, Greensbrook Section One is a deed-restricted community that is home to working families. It is one of the oldest subdivisions in Municipal Utility District No. 148, with whom it partners for water infrastructure and easements that serve all the surrounding neighborhoods.

In 2019, a grassroots effort led to the reinstatement of the Greensbrook Homeowners Association after decades of dormancy and neighborhood decline. Since 2019, the self-managed Greensbrook Homeowners Association, Inc., led by HOA President Calvet Shelley, has performed regular maintenance of the common areas in the community, established a reserve fund for the maintenance of street lights (which had been shut off for nonpayment in 2018), banned the overnight parking of eighteen-wheelers and large commercial vehicles, enforced lot maintenance, hosted annual neighborhood clean-up events and youth basketball camps, abated ongoing illegal dumping, and endeavored to address the most critical needs of homeowners in Section One.

Neighborhood amenities include a MUD No. 148 basketball pavilion located in the rear of the neighborhood and a 1-acre pocket park, micro-forest, and mini-prairie located near the Kingslake Forest entrance of the subdivision that connects to the walking trail along N Lake Houston Parkway.

The subdivision is also home to The Resurgence Monument, a mosaic tile work created by renowned public artist Reginald Adams, commissioned in 2024 by the Association to honor the history and resilience of the residents of Greensbrook. The monument will be permanently installed in late 2025 in the median at the intersection of Kingslake Forest Drive and N Lake Houston Parkway.
